In 2004, course designer Chuck Kennedy and Don Ticknor played the historic first ever round of disc golf at HIghbridge Hills, on the freshly installed Chestnut Grove course. The original Chestnut Grove course was the first 9 hole course to open at Highbridge Hills Disc Golf.
This short and relatively open course was a 9 hole beginner layout. It was designated as a disc golf learning course, complete with permanently marked skill shot stations, for those who wanted to work on specific throws. It also served the role of a night glow disc golf course, because of the proximity of the campground area to the course.
Mr. Kennedy’s original vision for Chestnut Grove was for it to be a learning center for people new to the game. To encourage new people to give disc golf a try, Chestnut Grove was a free to the public to play course. If the visitors to Chestnut Grove enjoyed the experience, and were curious about what else disc golf had to offer, then they could drive a mile down the road and try out one of the five courses on top of the hill at Highbridge Hills Disc Golf.
Coming Soon!!! The New Chestnut Grove Disc Golf Learning and Glow Course
In 2020, the parcel that the Chestnut Grove course played on was sold, and the course no longer exists. However, plans were made to create a new Chestnut Grove course on top of the hill at Highbridge Hills Disc Golf. We’re very excited to announce that Chestnut Grove V2.0 will be opening in 2021. In keeping with the designers original vision, it will function as a learning course, with permanent skill shot stations. And it will be FREE for the public to play, to encourage curious newcomers to disc golf. It will also serve a dual role as our dedicated nighttime glow disc golf course, just like the original Chestnut Grove.
